What does a pharmacy technician actually do?
A pharmacy technician works under a pharmacist's supervision: filling and labelling prescriptions, managing inventory, processing insurance claims, and dealing with patients at the counter. Technicians work in retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacy departments, mail-order pharmacies, long-term care facilities, and specialty pharmacies.
CPhT — Certified Pharmacy Technician — is a national credential issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Unlike a state licence, it travels with you anywhere in the country. Many employers now require it, and certified technicians are generally paid better and promoted sooner than uncertified ones.
Note: Eligibility and renewal requirements for the PTCB exam are set by the PTCB itself, and individual states may have their own registration rules. We go over the requirements for your state during enrolment.

The course follows the PTCB exam blueprint in order, while building the practical instincts you will need behind an actual pharmacy counter.
Pharmacy foundations & drug knowledge
- The technician's role, scope of practice and professional conduct
- Drug classifications, brand names and generic names
- Prescription terminology, abbreviations and sig codes

Dispensing practice & pharmacy calculations
- The full workflow from intake to labelling to hand-off
- Dosage calculations, concentrations, dilutions, ratio and proportion
- Days-supply calculations and refill management
- Error prevention and double-check procedures
Law, safety & insurance billing
- Federal and state pharmacy law; HIPAA and patient privacy
- Controlled substances: handling, storage and record-keeping
- Recalls, storage conditions and expiration control
- Third-party billing, prior authorization and rejected claims
Exam preparation & job readiness
- Full-blueprint review and timed practice examinations
- Targeted work on each student's weakest domains

No healthcare background required
Most of our students start with no experience in healthcare at all. What you need is a high school diploma or equivalent, enough English to read the material, and the willingness to show up consistently for four months.

Frequently asked
Can I take this course if my English is limited?
Yes. The material and the PTCB exam itself are in English, so you do need enough reading English to work through it. But anything that does not land in class gets explained again in Korean, and you can ask questions in Korean. Our position is that English should not be the thing that stops you.
I live outside New Jersey. Can I still enrol?
Yes. We run online classes for students outside New Jersey and New York — same curriculum, same instructors, same exam preparation. Because CPhT is a national credential recognized in all fifty states, it is useful wherever you live.
How often does the class meet? Can I keep working?
In-person classes meet once a week — Saturday mornings, 10:00 to 12:30. That schedule is deliberate: it is built so you can keep a weekday job. The online track also runs one live session a week with recordings, so shift workers can keep up.
What does the program cost?

Do I sit the exam as soon as I finish?
The program is built toward the PTCB exam, and in month four we walk through the application and scheduling process with you. The actual sitting date depends on your readiness and on PTCB's own eligibility rules — we look at your practice-exam results and decide together.
What does job placement support actually mean?
Résumé writing and review, interview practice, and introductions to local pharmacies, hospitals and clinics that are hiring. We cannot guarantee a job — no honest school can — but we do put students in front of employers using relationships built here over twenty years.
What happens if I miss a class?
Tell us in advance and we will send the material and, where needed, arrange time to catch you up. Classes are small enough that this is manageable.
